Headset-Mediated Exposure

Standard medical tests miss early ear and balance injuries because they only check if you can hear sounds, not whether your balance system or nerves are under stress. Real problems—dizziness and brain fog—show up long before an MRI or CT scan can detect physical damage (McFerran & Baguley, 2007; Brandt & Dieterich, 2020). Workers are told “all your tests are normal” and sent back to using headsets without getting balance function tests (cVEMP, oVEMP, vHIT, rotary chair) or having anyone check if their symptoms match their headset use patterns (Basu et al., 2017; National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, 2011).
